Swedish companies eye joint Arctic projects with Russia
St. Petersburg. A number of Swedish companies, including those participating in the fifth International Arctic Forum in St. Petersburg, are interested in joint projects with their Russian colleagues, Bjorn Lyrvall, Senior Arctic Official for Sweden told TASS in an interview on the sidelines of event.
"Over the years there has been interest on the part of companies in Sweden to work together with your companies in the Arctic on ice management, issues related to icebreaking. We have some companies here today [at the forum — TASS] Swedish companies - Ericsson, Stena Line, IKEA. Of course, they are searching for join enterprises activities with other Russian companies."
Mr. Lyrval also stressed the scientific cooperation of the two countries on Arctic issues, informs TASS.
"The challenges are so big in the Arctic area when it comes to climate, environmental issues. So we need to work together," he stressed.
On April 9-10, 2019, St. Petersburg hosts the International Arctic Forum - Arctic: Territory of Dialogue. This is a key platform for discussing the Arctic region’s problems and development at the international level. The event was held for the first time in 2010.
